Laughter, music, and performances filled the air as Kamp for Kids kicked off its 50th summer season with the annual Welcome Day celebration held today at Camp Togowauk in Westfield. Families, staff, elected officials, funders, and community members gathered to honor the legacy of a camp that has welcomed children and young adults of all abilities from across Western Massachusetts for half a century.

With the guidance and encouragement of staff, campers shared jokes, magic tricks, songs, and artwork that reflected not only their creativity but the inclusive spirit that’s defined Kamp since day one. It was a joyful reminder of how a supportive space can foster confidence, friendship, and a sense of belonging.

We were honored to welcome State Senator John Velis, State Representative Kelly Pease, and DDS Commissioner Sarah Peterson, who joined in the celebration. Their presence underscored the community’s continued support for inclusive programming and the belief that every child deserves a summer filled with exploration and joy.

Kamp for Kids welcomes children and young adults from across Western Massachusetts, offering a supportive, enriching environment where campers of all abilities connect and thrive. Through expressive arts, outdoor education, a spray park, non-competitive sports, and more, Kamp fosters growth, laughter, and lasting friendships.
